How to connect to Swansea University Eduroam WiFi on Linux
Swansea University uses Eduroam to let students connect to WiFi on campus. If you’ve connected to Eduroam before on either Windows or Mac, it might have been straight forward. But for connecting to Eduroam on Linux based operating systems such as Ubuntu or Pop OS, you need to configure the settings in a certain way.
Before connecting to Eduroam, register your device using Swansea Uni-Setup Wifi connection (only if you haven’t done this already). When you connect to that, a browser window should open automatically asking you to enter your details to register that device. If a window doesn’t open automatically, open Firefox and there should a pop saying, you need to sign in to the network to access it. Click on that and register your device.
After doing the above, you can then connect to Eduroam using the following configurations.
Here are the configurations you need to add/modify:
Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Anonymous identity: leave blank
CA Certificate: (None)
Check ‘No CA Certificate is required’.
PEAP version: Automatic
Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
Username: [your swansea email id]
Password: [your swansea email password]
